Consultant Bariatric Surgeon
We choose our surgeons very carefully and ones with a proven track record of performing bariatric procedures.
Each surgeon is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and approved to perform weight loss procedures. Surgeons
are also trained to perform balloon implantation and removal. They will talk you through the surgery in as much detail as
you wish, putting you at ease and making you comfortable before the surgery.
Bariatric Nurse Practitioner
They will advise on post-operative care, the "do's and don'ts." You can rest assure that any concerns you have after
your procedure will be addressed by the bariatric nurse. Everything we do at the National Gastric Balloon Centre is teamwork,
so everyone will be in communicado with each other about the patient's progress throughout weight loss journey.
Patient Support Officer
Our Patient Support Officer will ensure the transition is smooth from the moment
you leave your home towards the hospital. They will be there throughout the surgery and give you as much support as required
during recovery phase and beyond.
Should you feel the need to contact our centre about an urgent matter out of
hours no matter how mundane it is about your weight loss surgery, this is also your point of call. Just dial the bleep number
and we will contact you! There is also an emergency 24hr helpline for you to contact.
Dietician
This is a intergral memeber of our weight loss team, the dietician's
main responsibility is to provide expert up-to-date advice based on proven, clear scientific eveidence to manage your weight
loss. This is where you get to choose a hug combination of our Nutri-Packs to ensure that your calorific intake is controlled
right down to the last calorie. You will be given a "food prescription" that is simple, easy and effective to digest.
Weight Loss Support Group
To really succeed and reach you're full weight loss potential these
support groups are essential. Our experts will talk you through about how to deal with and manage your weight loss. Great
motivational and inspiration activties get you educated more on the different ways you can keep the weight off permanently.
Consultant Radiologist
Here
at the Bariatric Surgery Group we don't rely on just anyone who thinks they can do band adjustments, it is a technical procedure
which requires substantial expertise. This is why we have our very own Consultant Radiologist with a successful track record
of performing these procedures. Our professional experts are well versed in band adjustments and carry out these procedures
on a daily basis.
Radiologists
are experts in imaging so the band adjustments are always done under x-ray guided control to ensure utmost accuracy. You are
given a barium meal and the adjustments are carried out accordingly. Make sure you find out who is doing your band fills and
adjustments, if it is not a consultant radiologist our advice is to stay safe and well clear!
